Saginaw Valley State University junior women's tennis student-athlete Izabella Ismailova is currently ranked no. 11 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II Midwest Region Singles Rankings, released on Wednesday, April 20.

Ismailova, who competes at the no. 1 singles position for the Cardinals, is the fourth-ranked player in the rankings from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The three-time All-GLIAC performer went 13-7 overall this season in the fall and winter, aside from her 12-6 record at her regular no. 2 doubles position with teammate Danielle Slonac.

"Izabella has established herself as a top tier player in the GLIAC and our region," said head coach Jenn Boehm. "It's great to see her hard work and results yield this recognition in the rankings."

The no. 11 ranking for Izabella is the highest any SVSU tennis player has been ranked since in Yunjaio Shangguan was ranked in the 10th position in May of 2012. 

SVSU recently wrapped-up the spring portion of its seson with a 6-2 record, capping an overall mark of 12-10 for the 2015-16 campaign.
