Tennis Sweeps Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University tennis team swept Ashland 7-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals (6-5) record their third shutout win this season and match last year's win total after the result.

SVSU won all three doubles matchups to take the early 1-0 lead. Anastasia Diamantopoulos extended the lead to 2-0 with her win at number five singles (6-1, 6-1). Fatimah Butt finished next at number six doubles (6-1, 6-1) to gain the insurance point. Amelia Dickson then took the number two singles by the same score to extend the lead to 4-0 and secure the win. Nicoletta Diamantopoulos kept the shutout on the books with her 6-3, 6-3 win in number one singles. Lydia Liong Tng En secured number four singles with a 6-2,6-2, decision. Claudia Calderero Prado finished things out in a closely fought number three singles, 6-3, 4-6 (10-5).
