MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's track and field team competed in the Jack Skoog Open, hosted by Central Michigan University on Friday (Feb. 17) evening.
Cady Sandel picked-up a first place finish for the Cardinals in the 600 Meter Run, crossing the line in 1:48.88. Sidney Bischer also competed in the event, placing third with a time of 1:53.82.
Chantelle Fondren, Tori Peet and Christina Micale took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the 3000 Meter Run, finishing in times of 10:44.52, 10:55.76 and 11:03.69, respectively.
Anna Fochesato soared to a height of 1.62 meters in the High Jump, good for a 2nd place finish. Fochesto also earned a second place finish in the Triple Jump, reaching a distance of 11.00 meters.
Bischer also finished second in the Long Jump event with a leap of 5.10 meters.
Earning a top finish in the Shot Put was Emerald Joiner with a toss of 13.03 meters. Joiner placed fourth in the Weight Throw as well, reaching a distance of 15.10 meters. Meg Goettsch also competed in Weight Throw, earning a second place finish with a throw of 15.38 meters.
The Cardinals will return to action next Friday (Jan. 24) when the host the SVSU vs. GVSU Dual, set to begin at 3:00 PM.
