UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University hosted its annual Red October meet at the SVSU Cross Country Course on campus, with the women's team starting the competition in the 6K race. Shortly after, the men took their turn in the 8K event.
Isabelle Becker (Bay City Western HS) notched her first collegiate victory in the women's race, clocking a personal best of 22 minutes, 18.85 seconds. Emelia MacDonald (Thornapple Kellogg HS) followed with a sixth-place finish in her first collegiate 6K, recording a time of 24:21.24. Kayla McIntyre (St. Clair Community College) joined them in the top-10, earning her first such finish by placing 10th in a personal record time of 25:48.58.
Continuing the women's results, Clara Krupp (New Lothrop HS) placed 11th with a time of 26:11.84, narrowly missing the top-10. This marked the third top-15 finish of her career. Meanwhile, Kelcie Pung (Fowler HS) rounded out the Cardinal women's times, securing 13th in 26:44.68 for her first career top-15 finish.
Turning to the men's race, Isaac Zammit (Cardinal Mooney HS) led the way with the first top-five finish of his career, crossing the finish line fourth with a PR of 26:37.69. Meanwhile, Connor Clor (Romeo HS) secured his first top-10 placing, finishing sixth after setting a new career-best time of 26:48.55. Making his collegiate debut, Stewart Waters also delivered a top-10 performance by clocking in at 27:07.44 to finish ninth in the individual standings.
Building on the men's performances, David Murphy (Flint Powers Catholic HS) captured his second career top-15 finish, placing 11th in the 8K at 27:15.75. Wyatt Miller (Sandwich HS) crossed the line in 14th with a time of 27:25.69, marking the second-best 8K result of his career. Among three SVSU men making collegiate debuts at the meet, Justin Bradford finished 16th with a time of 27:45.21 in his first 8K race.
Rounding out the men's results, Colden Gray, Ethan Sellers, and Myles Linden secured 17th, 18th, and 20th, each setting new personal records. Gray posted 27:53.09. Sellers finished in 27:56.20. Linden clocked in at 28:05.42, adding to the team's achievements.
Cameron Sherrill's time of 28:35.02 put him in 22nd place. Elijah Hutchinson was the last SVSU men's debut, and he finished inside the top-25, earning 24th with a mark of 29:08.32.
