UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. — The Saginaw Valley State University men's cross country team earned one of the 24 automatic bids to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship that will take place on November 22 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Cardinals were just eight points from the top spot at the NCAA Midwest Regional to claim the second bid.
Thirty-four teams were selected to compete with the 24 auto bid teams and 10 at-large selections. Along with the team selections, 25 individuals from non-qualifying teams were also invited to compete.
This is the ninth time the Cardinal men have qualified for the championship race—the fourth consecutive season and five of the last seven. This year's team is poised to improve upon the 17th-place finish from a year ago.
The championship races will take place in a familiar spot for SVSU as Parkside hosts at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The men's race is slated to start at 12:15 p.m. (ET).
A live webstream of the championships will occur from 11:00 a.m. (ET) until the conclusion of the awards ceremony on www.NCAA.com.
