SVSU Holds Third-Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Athletics Department recently hosted its third-annual Breast Cancer Survivor Recognition and Reception event on Saturday, Feb. 26.  The event was held in conjunction with SVSU's men's basketball game versus Northern Michigan University and the GLIAC's Pinkwave initiative.

SVSU had 58 survivors attend the Recognition and Reception, a great improvement over last year's number of 37 survivors.  The University raised $3,026, which will be contributed to the Covenant HealthCare Foundation Breast Health Center CARE Fund, which was developed to assist uninsured women in receiving early diagnosis screening, ultra sound, breast biopsy and breast MRI's.  SVSU’s total contributions to-date are $9,519.  During the recognition, SVSU's women’s basketball players escorted the Survivors to half-court, where they were greeted by our sponsors and received a gift basket filled with donated items.
