UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Athletics Department recently held its second Community Youth Day of the season on Saturday, Oct. 16. The event was a free Baseball and Softball Clinic. The second in a series of five clinics for the 2010-11 season, which was held in conjunction with the Cardinals' football game against Indianapolis, was attended by 82 Girls and Boys grades K-8 from the Great Lakes Bay Region. All kids received a free bicycle helmet and custom fitting, which followed the clinic.
Brenna Legner and Zachary Felix were the lucky winners of the bicycle giveaway at halftime. Gabriel Shall won a family package of skiing/snowboarding helmets. Ashley Davis and Ellen Morand received a softball autographed by the 2010-11 SVSU Softball Team, while Isaac Theisen received a baseball autographed by the 2010-11 SVSU Baseball Team.
The next Community Youth Day event for SVSU is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11. The event will feature a free Football & Volleyball Clinic from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm, and will be held in conjuncion with SVSU's basketball games against Findlay, beginning at 1:00 pm. There will be another $250 MESP College Scholarship given-away at the clinic.
