SAGINAW, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State
University student-athletes are entering their second semester of
the "Cards Who Care" program, which was launched in September of
2009 in conjunction with Convenant Hospital of Saginaw.
There are approximately 30 student-athletes who are volunteering
their time every Monday evening between 5-7 PM to visit with
patients at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Mich. The
student-athletes meet with patients and their families with the
hope of brightening up their stay.
This community service project was coordinated to allow SVSU
student-athletes an opportunity to give back to the local
community. The hope is to have the program grow in the number of
student-athletes that volunteer each semester. The program
will run from September through May of each academic year.
