UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University was again recognized by the NCAA by having four Cardinal student-athletes selected to attend the 2013 NCAA Career in Sports Forum that will be held June 8-10 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
SVSU’s four selected representatives marks the most from any NCAA Division II institution, an honor now received for the second straight year. In addition to SVSU’s four delegates, only two other student-athletes from GLIAC institutions were chosen to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum.
“To receive this recognition from the NCAA speaks directly to the quality of our student-athletes at SVSU,” said Alex Tiseo, Assistant Athletic Director, “The opportunity to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum will provide our delegates with specialized programming the areas of career and personal development in order to help cultivate a unique skill set to be used both now and in the future.”

At the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, the SVSU delegates will be joined by other student-athletes from institutions across-the-country that span all three divisions of the NCAA membership. The event will provide attendees with an educational opportunity where they will learn and gain valuable exposure to careers in sports, specifically in the areas of coaching, administration and sports entertainment. Additionally, participants will examine key functions of a coach or administrator within sports, including foundational skills such as communication, networking, recruiting, managing culture, transitioning and budgeting. The forum will also look to dispel myths about careers in athletics, as well as facilitate an opportunity to obtain information from current and future athletics professionals.
