ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley
State University men’s golf team took seventh place at The
Arendsen at The Meadows Golf Course led by senior Kasey Hocquard
(Cheboygan, Mich.) who finished tied for 11th overall by shooting
5-over par during the two-day tournament.
In the opening round, Hocquard shot even-par 72, while in the
second round, he posted a 1-over 73, and in the final round shot
4-over 76 to finish out with a 221 overall. That score was good
enough to crack the Top 20 for individual play.
Cardinals junior Dieter Schultz (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron
Northern HS) and sophomore Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) finished
the tournament tied for 39th with scores of 231 overall. Sophomore
Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) shot 232 to finish tied for 47th,
while Junior Brian King (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central
HS) finished tied for 55th place with a 237.
The University of Indianapolis took first place in the tournament
with an 872 (plus-8) three-round total.
