BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University senior forward Zach Myers (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) earned GLIAC Men's Soccer "Athlete of the Week" honors after leading the Cardinals to a pair of wins to open the 2012 campaign.

Myers led the Cardinals to a pair of victories over GLVC opponents this past weekend, scoring five goals in two games on seven shots.  Myers scored five of SVSU's seven goals in their first two games of the season, including a three-goal outing against St. Joseph's on Sunday (Sept. 2).  He also netted two goals in the 3-1 season opening win against Lewis University on Thursday (Aug. 30).  Myers, the 2011 GLIAC "Defensive Player of the Year," made the switch to the front line for the Cardinals in 2012, after playing his first three seasons as a defender.

The Cardinals will host Marygrove College on Friday (Sept. 7) at the SVSU Soccer Complex at 4:30 PM.
