UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals won their first match of the season over Lake Superior State University by a score of 5-4. The match was forced to be played at Potential Energy due to the rainy weather.

SVSU doubles once again played well as the took all three matched from the Lakers. at 1 doubles the team of Katie Hanover (St. Johns, Mich.) and Danielle Coldren (West Bloomfield, Mich./Pontiac Notre Dame Prep) won 8-6. At 2 doubles Sarah Campian (Troy, Mich.) and Debra Hammond (Grand Blanc, Mich.) also won 8-6. Cortney Heileman (East China, Mich) and Anessa Campian (Troy, Mich.) won 8-5. In singles action Heileman took her 4 singles match 6-3, 6-3 and S. Campian (Troy, Mich.) took hers 6-3, 6-2.

The Cardinal move to 1-2 overall (1-2 GLIAC), while Lake Superior State falls to 1-2 overall (0-2 GLIAC). SVSU will host host Northwood on September 16.
