Women's DMR Team Breaks School Record at SPIRE Midwest Open

GENEVA, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's track and field teams competed Friday (1/27) and Saturday (1/28) in the SPIRE Midwest Open.

The Cardinals only traveled a small group of distance athletes to the the SPIRE Midwest Open to join a more competitive field of athletes to increase the chances of improved marks.  The distance medley relay team consisting of Alycia Wright (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North HS), Diamond Taylor (Southfield, Mich./Southfield HS), Emily Short (Tawas, Mich./Tawas Area HS), and Ashley Meyer (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) broke the previous school record of 12:13.43, by almost 20 seconds, clocking in at 11:56.85.  Senior teammate Megan Pittoors (Macomb, Mich./Dakota HS) would place second in the 5,000-meter run timing in at 17:54.36.

Saginaw Valley will be back in action again Friday (2/3) when they host Grand Valley State University for the SVSU vs. GVSU Dual.
