Football Announces 2011 Schedule

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University football program has announced its 2011 schedule.  The Cardinals are tentatively scheduled to play ten games this season, opening the season and their newly renovated stadium to fans on September 10 against Ferris State in a "Red Out" game.

"We are still actively searching for an 11th game.  We thought we had a non-conference opponent to open the season, but unfortunately they backed out of the game in January," stated Athletic Director Mike Watson.

SVSU will play five games at home this season and could still add an additional game to be played on either Sept. 1 or 3 if an opponent becomes available.  All of Saginaw Valley's home games this season will start with a 7:00 PM kickoff.  The Cardinals will host Northwood on Sept. 24 for the annual "Axe Bowl", Hillsdale on Oct. 1 for their annual homecoming game, Ashland on Oct. 22 for "Family Weekend" and will finish the home portion of their schedule with "Senior Night" against Northern Michigan on Nov. 5.

SVSU will play road games at Lake Erie on Sept. 17, Michigan Tech on Oct. 8, Indianapolis on Oct. 15, Wayne State on Oct. 29, before wrapping up its 2011 schedule at Grand Valley State on Nov. 12.
