UNIVERSITY CENTER - Saginaw Valley State University Head Football Coach Jim Collins has announced the signing of 24 high school student-athletes to join the football program in the fall of 2015.  There are also five student-athletes who have signed-on to play at SVSU after competing at either a junior college or four-year institution. 

"I am very excited to welcome this year's group of incoming football players to the Saginaw Valley State University Cardinal Family, said Collins, who will enter his eighth year as the SVSU Head Coach.  "I want to thank everyone who was involved in the recruiting process, including our coaching staff, who all worked extremely hard to bring in an exceptional group of young men.  Not only is this year's class loaded with football talent, but it is also a group of character individuals with the ability to compete in the classroom and on the football field.  This group is made up of proven winners who have a wealth of playoff experience and come from tradition-rich high school programs, all of which have outstanding coaches who have prepared them well for the college game.  Eight student-athletes in this year's class won state championships during their careers.   As always, we are even more excited about working with each of these young men over the next five years in helping them become the best they can be, while seeing to it that they work to achieve their goals and dreams."

The Cardinals will open their 2015 season on the road, as they travel to play the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on Thursday, September 3rd at 6:00 pm.
